Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station
Healthier Water Starts with One Call
The Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station brings fresh, great tasting water right to your kitchen tap, so reaching for a glass becomes an easy everyday habit. It sits neatly under your sink, runs without electricity, and is built around your water. Unlike most reverse osmosis systems, two of its five cartridge positions can be customized. The result is cleaner, safer water you and your family will want to drink. With Gordon Water as your authorized Kinetico dealer in West Michigan since long before PFAS was a household word, you have a local team that knows your water inside and out.
The Signs
What Sets the K5 Apart?
When you own a K5, you know you are doing all you can to provide your family with the highest water quality at the best price.
Add-on cartridges customize the filtration, reducing chloramine, arsenic III, and other contaminants
Add-on cartridges customize the filtration, reducing chloramine, arsenic III, and other contaminants
Two FlexFilter slots take add-on cartridges for what your water test finds: VOC Guard, Chloramine Guard, Arsenic Guard, Perchlorate Guard, Purefecta Guard for bacteria and viruses, and Mineral Plus for taste. That is what makes the K5 different from a fixed under-sink system.

Treated water is ready at the faucet with no wait time
Treated water is ready at the faucet with no wait time
A storage tank keeps treated water ready, so filling a pot or a pitcher does not slow to a trickle. The K5 runs on water pressure alone, with no timer, no circuit board and nothing to plug in, so a power outage never touches it.
The K5 is WQA-certified to NSF/ANSI 58 for PFAS reduction, including PFOA and PFOS
The K5 is WQA-certified to NSF/ANSI 58 for PFAS reduction, including PFOA and PFOS
WQA has certified the K5 against NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 and 58, plus 372 for lead-free materials. Standard 58 covers PFAS reduction, including PFOA and PFOS, along with lead, arsenic V, fluoride, nitrates and dissolved solids.

A mechanical meter counts every gallon and shuts the flow off at 500 gallons, so you change filters when they are actually spent, not on a guess. There is nothing to reset and no light to ignore.

The Fix
How the K5 Works
Five cartridge positions, one job: the cleanest water your kitchen tap has ever poured. Water moves through a prefilter, two FlexFilter slots you configure for your water, the reverse osmosis membrane, and a final carbon polish. It all runs on water pressure alone, so there is nothing to plug in and a power outage never touches it.

- A · Prefilter — Carbon and sediment on chlorinated supplies, sediment-only on wells
- B · FlexFilter slot 1 — Yours to configure
- C · RO membrane — Dissolved minerals, metals, and organics rejected to drain
- D · FlexFilter slot 2 — Yours to configure
- E · Postfilter — Final carbon polish, with the 500-gallon shut-off

What Reverse Osmosis Removes That a Carbon Filter Cannot
Pitcher, fridge and faucet filters are carbon only. Carbon improves taste. It does not take out what is dissolved in the water. The K5 pairs carbon with a reverse osmosis membrane, and that is the difference.
| Water issue | Reverse osmosis + carbon (the K5) | Carbon filter only (pitcher, fridge, faucet) |
|---|---|---|
| Chlorine taste and odor | Removes | Reduces |
| Sediment and cloudiness | Removes | Reduces |
| Lead | Removes | Removes some |
| PFAS (PFOA and PFOS) | Removes | Removes some |
| Arsenic V | Removes | Will not remove |
| Fluoride | Removes | Will not remove |
| Nitrates | Removes | Will not remove |
| Dissolved solids (TDS) | Removes | Will not remove |
| Cysts (Giardia, Cryptosporidium) | Removes | Removes some |
| VOCs (solvents, pesticides) | Removes* | Removes some |
| Chloramine | Removes* | Removes some |
| Arsenic III | Removes* | Will not remove |
| Bacteria and viruses | Removes* | Will not remove |
- * With the matching add-on cartridge in a FlexFilter slot. Kinetico states these cartridges are not separately NSF or WQA certified.
- Based on the K5's WQA certification to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 and 58. Results for carbon-only filters vary by product and cartridge age.
The Systems
Cartridges You Can Add
The two Flex filter slots are one of the features that set the K5 apart from every other under-sink RO system.
Certified as part of the K5VOC Guard
For volatile organic compounds: pesticides, solvents, degreasers, inks and dyes, and fuel-related contamination. This is the cartridge that ships in the standard configuration Kinetico certifies.
Chloramine Guard
For utilities that disinfect with chloramine rather than free chlorine. Chloramine is harder on taste and harder to reduce with carbon alone.
Arsenic Guard
For arsenic III. Worth being precise here: the base K5 is certified for pentavalent arsenic, or arsenic V. Arsenic III is a different form and needs this cartridge, which Kinetico states is not NSF or WQA certified.
Perchlorate Guard
For perchlorate, which shows up near certain industrial and defense sites.
Purefecta Guard
Kinetico's microbiological cartridge, rated for bacteria and virus reduction. Worth discussing if you're on a private well with a history of coliform hits.
Mineral Plus
Adds calcium and magnesium back after the membrane. Purely a taste choice, for people who find demineralized water flat.
