The Basics

What are PFAS?

Sometimes called "forever chemicals," polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are man-made chemicals found in consumer products since the 1950s, used to make things waterproof and nonstick. Research indicates PFAS can contaminate the environment and contribute to serious health issues. Many countries and industries have restricted or phased them out, but they can still linger in your home's water. To see what has been reported for your own water system, look up your ZIP in the EWG Tap Water Database.

Testing note: a third-party PFAS lab test is available as a paid service. We collect samples following proper protocols, and results are typically back within one to two weeks. Call 800-928-3768 for current pricing.
