Not all softener salt behaves the same way in a brine tank. DuraCube is high-purity sodium chloride in a consistent cube size, and that consistency is what makes the difference over a year of use.
Cheaper salt tends to bridge, forming a crust across the top of the tank with an empty pocket underneath, so the softener stops drawing brine while the tank still looks full. It also mushes at the bottom into a sludge that has to be dug out. DuraCube resists both, and it leaves less residue behind, which means fewer tank cleanouts and fewer service calls that turn out to be a salt problem rather than an equipment problem.
If your tank has already bridged or crusted over, mention it when you order. A technician can clear it out, and the Gordy Care Plan includes a full brine tank evaluation as part of the annual visit.
